Basic Skills / GED

The GED® Program is provided by Adult Education.  Students are able to enroll in Adult Ed classes to improve their basic skills needed to pass the GED® Test and earn their Arkansas High School Diploma.

On average, GED® students complete 100+ hours in the classroom before taking the GED® Ready (Practice Exam).  Students are encouraged to participate in our Distance Learning courses in order to increase their hours and learning opportunities online.

GED® courses are free to students.  The only cost towards earning the GED® is $16.00 for the Official Test.  A minimum score of 145 is required on all subjects.

The Official GED® test has 4 subjects:

Reasoning through Language Arts - Ability to read closely, write clearly and edit and understand written text.

Mathematical Reasoning - Quantitative & algebraic problem solving.

Science - Life science, physical science, earth and space science.

Social Studies - Civics and government, U. S. history, economics, geography and the world.

Teens (16-17 years):

Teenagers (16-17) are able to enroll in Adult Education's GED® Program.  The following criteria must be met:

-Minimum score of 535 is required on the TABE 11/12 for all subjects (Reading, Language, and Mathematics).

-Guardian Approval (Adult Ed form with signature)

-Secondary Education Release with signatures and official school seal

-Teen Student Contract (Adult Ed form with student and guardian signatures)

-Teens ages 16-18 are required to pass the Civics Education Exam before GED® Testing process begins.
